Class Styles

We have a wide offering of dance classes - ballet, jazz, tap, highland, modern, and contemporary - for dancers aged 2-100. All of our classes are taught by qualified and passionate instructors.

  • Ethereal yet strong, with graceful, flowing, and precise movements. For those who have a fierce dedication to technique, ballet is the dance style for you!

    Level Requirements

    Beginner: No training necessary. Absolute beginners welcome!

    In order to move into Advanced Beginner: Experience dancing necessary. Should be at or above Grade 2 BATD. Familiar with and capable of executing clean basic barre work (plié, tendu, fondu, rond de jambe, frappé, développé, grand battement). Familiar with and capable of executing clean simple centre work (rélévés in various positions, pirouette preparation, simple adage work such as port de bras, simple jumps like glissade, assemble, pas de chat, changement, etc.)

    In order to move into Intermediate/Advanced: Experience dancing for several years necessary. Should be at or above Grade 5 BATD. Very familiar with and capable of executing standard barre work. Familiar with and capable of executing more complex centre work (clean pirouettes, some batterie work, long adage combinations)

  • The traditional dance of Scotland, with precise footwork and rocking bagpipes. This style is high-impact and a tremendous Celtic cardio workout!

    Level Requirements:

    Beginner: No training necessary. Absolute beginners welcome!

    In order to move into Advanced Beginner: Experience dancing necessary. Should be at or above Silver BATD. Familiar with and capable of executing the Fling, Sword, ST, and at least one National dance.

    In order to move into Intermediate/Advanced: Experience dancing for years necessary. Should be at or above Blue Riband BATD. Familiar with and capable of executing all Highland dances, and at least the Lilt and Flora. Should have some rudimentary knowledge of Jig and Hornpipe.

  • Ballet-inspired but more fluid and relaxed. If you want to explore more dynamic and expressive movements, this class is for you!

    Level Requirements:

    Advanced Beginner Modern: Some dance experience necessary (though it doesn’t have to be in modern). Should be familiar with and capable of executing basic ballet terminology (plié, tendu, grand battement, etc.).

    In order to move into Intermediate/Advanced: Dance experience for years necessary. Familiar with and capable of executing modern fundamentals (particularly in tilts, contractions, and falls) and be comfortable learning more complex choreography.

  • Tap is derived from African-American dance paired with Irish dance forms. It’s loud, fun and the best ways to move to the rhythm and beat of the music!

    Level Requirements:

    Beginner: No training necessary. Absolute beginners welcome!

    In order to move into Advanced Beginner: Experience dancing necessary. Should be at or above Bronze BATD. Familiar with and capable of executing basic tap movements (e.g., shuffles, brushes, flaps, pickups, digs, wing prep, stamps, paradiddles, etc.) and be comfortable learning choreography.

    In order to move into Intermediate: Experience dancing for years necessary. Should be at or above Gold BATD. Familiar with and capable of executing most tap movements (including two foot wings, pullbacks, and turns), and be comfortable learning more complex choreography.

  • Created by African-Americans, characterized by syncopation, and high energy kicks, jumps, and spins. This style has an upbeat, and high energy class!

    Level Requirements:

    Beginner/Advanced Beginner: No training necessary. Absolute beginners welcome! Advanced Beginners are those dancers working on the fundamentals of jazz dance with the added artistry of flexibility, strength, timing, and emotion (with emphasis on turns, kicks, and jumps).

    In order to move into Intermediate: Experiences dancing for years necessary. Should be at or above Gold BATD. Familiar with and capable of executing most jazz fundamentals (e.g., clean pirouettes, etc.) and be comfortable learning more complex choreography.

  • Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.

    Level Requirements:

    Beginner: No training necessary. Absolute beginners welcome!

    In order to move into Intermediate: Dance experience necessary (though it doesn’t have to be in contemporary). Should be familiar with and capable of executing most ballet terminology (plié, tendu, grand battement, pirouette, etc.) and be comfortable learning more complex choreography.
